Unlocking Felicity's potential

Felicity is a Senior Manager of a thriving communication agency.  Balancing work and family hadn’t been an issue as she was super organised, a great communicator, able to evoke empathy and support as she had honed her emotional intelligence and commercial acumen over the years.  Her challenge was presence and gravitas with Senior Leadership Team and Board Directors and being comfortable in managing her team at arms length to allow space and time to work on strategic initiatives.

What we worked on

•Allowing the team to lead their direct responsibilities autonomously, encouraging them to plan ahead on client needs to problem solve and manage upwards in new ways.

•Managing stakeholders effectively – honing strategic planning skills to invite wider/cross functional input and contributions, valuing different perspectives in discussions but ensuring decisions were made

The impact it made

Felicity has been invited to lead on strategic projects.  She has gained confidence and gravitas with the Board and Senior Leadership Team.  Planned an effective handover with maternity cover and will start maternity leave reassured that she has proven her ability, capability and vision to lead whatever opportunities are open to her in the future.

Introducing the SHINE Programme

Working with individuals to unlock the business issues holding marketing back in their organisation.  Focusing on strategic thinking, personal influence and self-care. SHINE is a 16 week mentoring programme which has resulted in marketers raising their profile in the organisation to enable them to deliver impressive brand growth and increase market share for the products they represent.

Are you always ridiculously busy, fire-fighting the next issue? Acting as a shield around your team? Wondering why you are prioritising everyone else’s career plan instead of your own? Frustrated that you are not taken seriously or questioning whether you are truly valued by the Board or Senior Leadership team?

What got you here, won’t get you there

Most marketing managers empathise with these situations.  If you are like the majority of senior marketers I work with, you are a capable, efficient, effective manager who has always managed to handle the pressures and challenges.  However the reality is that your working practices that have worked so far are not working for you now to help you take the next step up and be a true leader.

Without finding new strategies and ways to get noticed by your senior management team, you will continue to feel frustrated, not be put forward for training, be overlooked for promotion, nor be offered the opportunity to lead on new initiatives, I can enable you to find these new strategies and avoid these outcomes, through the SHINE programme.

Everyone is unique and each individual will work at their own pace.  This is a flexible programme, steered by the mentees unique needs, however typically  the programme will flow:

  • Where are you now/where do you want to be?

  • How are you going to get there?

  • Tools and techniques for handling hurdles and barriers

  • Gaining momentum and buy-in into your plan

  • Having confidence around your plan as you deliver

  • Recognising your achievements

  • Raised their profile at an executive level

  • Learnt how to prioritise their personal development plan to benefit their team and the business

  • Developed new techniques and strategies on how to be an influential manager within their organisation

  • An enhanced confidence in the managers ability

  • Clarity of key business issues holding the business back

  • Identified strategic solutions to solve these issues

  • Which in turn has delivered impressive brand growth and increased market share
